1.2: yogashchittavrittinirodhah ||2||
Yoga is to calm the fluctuations of the mind. (Sutra 1.2)
2.1: tapahsvadhyayeshvarapranidhanani kriyayogah ||1||
Yoga (which is a form of action) consists of three parts: self-discipline, self-inquiry, and devotion to God. (Sutra 2.1)
Mortification, study, and surrendering fruits of work to God are called Kriya Yoga.
1.27: tasya vachakah prannavah ||27||
Om is the sound of God, made manifest (Sutra 1.27)
His manifesting word is Om.
2.30: ahinsasatyasteyabrahmacharyaparigraha yamah ||30||
Before all else, cause no pain. (Sutra 2.30)
Non-killing, truthfulness, non-stealing, continence, and non-receiving, are called Yama.
2.46: sthirasukham aasanam ||46||
May we inhabit a posture of comfort and steadiness. (Sutra 2.46)
Posture is that which is firm and pleasant.
Here is the translation by Swami Vivekananda with original Sanskrit verses.
